so just get the graphic card then.
yeah, you could do that.some of the things that cs4 does that you would miss out on with just the V-card is as follows:

1.)the increased integration among components;not just within one suite either.say for instance you can export a layout that was created in InDesign into an XLF(flash-compatible) format, and then open it in Flash for further editing.

2.)one of PS's impressive core features is the powerful pixel-rendering engine.this feature is now also embedded in other programs such as Fireworks.

3.)you can import and embed more adobe file types into various other cs4 programs.

4.)direct editing after import is easier than before through the enhanced Adobe Bridge.you can manage and search among your projects, support files, and other elements, and access Version Cue(workgroup file management) and Device Central(lets you preview and test content for use on a variety of mobile devices).

5.)there is an upgraded dodge, burn, and sponge retouch feature as well as full-canvas(workspace) rotation and live nondestructive corrections.

6.)one of the best new features in my opinion is the content aware scaling.what this is let's say you have a landscape-oriented picture with someone in the center foreground, some nice scenery in the left-hand midground, and a way-too-wide expanse of ocean and sky in the background.you can tell PS(sometimes it is self-aware though) to be "aware" of that person and the scenery.you then would scale the picture horizontally, and PS would maintain the aspect ratio of the selected items and surrounding pixels but would scale everything else smoothly.the result would be a portrait-oriented picture that has the focus placed on the person and not the broad expanse of everything else!!

7.)the vector-graphic design suite Illustrator lets you have multiple different-sized artboards in a single document,or you could open multiple documents and use the new tabbed interface to toggle, copy, drag, drop objects, etc. betweent them quickly.

8.)there are a few new improvements that are for the designers out there.such improvements are transparent gradients,spring-loaded icons whose menus will open when you drag objects to them, and WYSIWYG clipping masks!!

wait why would i miss out on this? i was simply LOL'ing at the fact that you would pay for cs4.

I mean i totally respect it, otherwise they would go out of business. I suppose I will actually fork over the money when I graduate.
